About ADVRC
ADVRC is a veterinary speciality hospital located in the Portland, Oregon metro area and was established to help animals with allergy and dermatology problems (skin, ear or nail diseases). We offer specialized procedures such as intradermal skin testing for allergies, dermatohistopathology (reading and interpreting skin biopsies), immunotherapy, and video otoscopy. As specialists, we stay current on new research and treatments, and are often actively involved with research.
Why Would My Pet Need to See a Dermatologist?
There are many skin diseases that affect dogs, cats and horses, including allergies, ear diseases, hormone imbalances, and bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases. Hair loss, some skin cancers, and abnormalities of the footpads and nails are also treated by dermatologists. Many of these diseases look alike, with only subtle differences in appearance and historical backgrounds. As dermatologists we are trained to identify these differences and pursue a direct and cost-effective diagnostic work-up.
